Security vetting for work in the defence industry
Some defence-industry roles involve security-sensitive operations. The employer may then need to conduct security vetting before access is granted.
Talk to us
What is security vetting?
The purpose is to assess loyalty to protected interests, reliability from a security perspective and potential vulnerabilities. The assessment is based on the specific position and operation.
What may be included?
A basic assessment with an interview and relevant checks is included. Positions in a security class may also require a records check and, in some cases, a special personal investigation.
- Basic assessment and security interview
- References and other relevant information
- Records checks where required by law and classification
Who is responsible?
The organisation engaging or employing the person is responsible for the vetting and final decision. A recruitment company does not replace the employer's assessment.
What should candidates know?
Candidates should be informed about the process and provide consent where a records check is required. Questions and timing vary by position and organisation.
Authoritative sources
Current and complete information is available from the Swedish Security Service and in the Swedish Protective Security Act. Always ask the relevant employer about a specific position.
Our role in recruitment
We help employers formulate relevant conditions and give candidates clear information. Security vetting and the decision always remain with the employer.
